The Congress- JD(S) coalition hit a new low, when Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday, hit out at JD(S) ally and Karnataka Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy tweeting that his elder brother H D Ravanna was eligible to be Chief Minister as Congress veteran Mallikarjun Kharge was appropriate for higher political posts.

"I Feel That Injustice Has Happened With Mallikarjun Kharge", HD Kumaraswamy's Veiled Dig At Congress

Earlier, on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge was not given enough recognition for his work by his party. Kumaraswamy said that Mr. Kharge should have been made a Chief Minister long back.

"Mallikarjun Kharge should have become the Chief Minister long ago. I feel that injustice has happened to him. I would like to clearly state that even I feel that Kharge has not been given recognition for all the work he has done," the Chief Minister said while addressing a public rally in Chincholi.

This attack was the latest in a series which have rocked the  Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka. On previous Tuesday, Karnataka Home Minister and Congress Leader, M B Patil, has hinted that Congress Leader Siddaramaiah should take over the Chief Minister post again. Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Patil said that 'while Kumaraswamy is the CM for five years, Siddaramaiah deserves to be CM again.'

Following this, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Monday expressed his disapproval of JD(S) Karnataka Chief Adagur H. Vishwanath by saying that his (Siddaramaiah) mouth is shut as they (Congress) are tied to the alliance in the state with the Deve Gowda-led JD(S).

This triggered the Congress high command to hold a meeting at the Hubballi Airport and  tell the JD(S) leadership that there are negative statements coming from both ends and the impact of the bickering will be seen on the alliance of the two parties in Karnataka by-polls and Congress' relationship with the ally and prospective allies across the country. While the Congress and JD(S) coalition, which won 117 seats combined, is currently in power in the Karnataka State Assembly managing a slim margin over the BJP's 104 seats, they have entered a seat-sharing pact for the Lok Sabha elections. Congress contested from 20 seats while JD(S) contested for the remaining 8 seats in phase 2 and 3 on April 18 and April 23 respectively.
