Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a rally today, said that the Congress obstructed and halted the bullet train project. “The Congress has a track record of obstructing work instead of facilitating it. A prime example of this was their treatment of the bullet train project proposed to connect Gujarat and Maharashtra. Initially, they ridiculed the project and later opposed it, halting progress until they were in power,” said PM Modi.

The Phase 3 of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday in India, wherein 93 constituencies in 11 states and Union Territories cast their franchise. A voter turnout of 62.1 per cent was logged in this phase, with more than 1,300 candidates contesting.

The scrutiny of papers will take place on May 15 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations is May 17, according to an official release.

Firstly, her father broke this nation into three pieces, based on religion and later, Indira Gandhi changed the constitution. In 1981, they removed SC and ST reservations from a central university by changing its status to a minority institution and also changed the name to Aligarh Muslim University. In 2011, the daughter-in-law of Feroze Jahangir Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi changed the status of a central university to a minority institution hence removing reservations for SC and ST. If they remain in power in Telangana, they'll change the status of Osmania University and Hyderabad Central University..."

 Two government servants on Lok Sabha poll duty died in Karnataka following heart attacks, sources in the Election Commission said on Tuesday.        

 The sources identified the deceased as 48-year-old Govindappa Siddapura, headmaster of a government school, who breathed his last in Bagalkote district's Mudhol town on Monday.

 Nomination process for the seventh and the last phase of Lok Sabha elections in which 57 seats will go for polls on June 1, began on Tuesday. The key constituency of Varanasi represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha will also go for polls in the last phase.

The 57 parliamentary constituencies are spread over seven states and the union territory of Chandigarh.

The Election Commission issued a notification on behalf of the President starting the nomination process. According to the notification, May 14 is the last date for making nominations, while May 15 has been appointed as the day for scrutiny of nominations. Candidates can withdraw from electoral battle till May 17.

After casting his vote, Union Home Minister Amit Shah sent out a special message to the voters. He said, “Today is the voting for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. I would like to make a heartfelt appeal to all the voters across the country and also to the voters of Gujarat to come forward and participate in this festival of democracy and elect a stable government that provides a safe, prosperous country. Elect a government which is against corruption, wants to eradicate poverty, wants to make a self-reliant India, wants to make a developed India and wants to take India number one in every field in the whole world.”

He added, "Despite the scorching heat, the voting trends are very encouraging. As far as Gujarat is concerned, about 20 per cent of voting has been completed by the voters of Gujarat in just 2.5 hours. I have full confidence that the voters will elect a government that will provide stability, security, and prosperity and will make India free from poverty. Today, on the occasion of this festival of democracy, I convey my best wishes to all the countrymen and appeal to them to participate in this festival of democracy."
