Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 3 | Congress Will Give 100% Reservation to Muslims: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a rally today, said that the Congress obstructed and halted the bullet train project. “The Congress has a track record of obstructing work instead of facilitating it. A prime example of this was their treatment of the bullet train project proposed to connect Gujarat and Maharashtra. Initially, they ridiculed the project and later opposed it, halting progress until they were in power,” said PM Modi.

The Phase 3 of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday in India, wherein 93 constituencies in 11 states and Union Territories cast their franchise. A voter turnout of 62.1 per cent was logged in this phase, with more than 1,300 candidates contesting.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri reacted to three independent MLAs withdrawing support to the BJP in Haryana and supporting the Congress. Puri told ANI, "I got know about this. I saw that report but I don't have information on it...Our people will give you a statement when we get the information. None of our govts are in any danger...I am not even sure if the news is true or false."

Haryana: Three Independent members of legislative assembly (MLA) have withdrawn support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. The three Independent MLAs include Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen and Dharampal Gonder, who have extended their support to the Congress.

“The INDI Alliance wants to cancel Ram Mandir. Someone who has left the Congress party has revealed that the Congress leaders have promised to upturn the Ram Mandir decision, if they were to come to power,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while speaking at a rally in Beed, Maharashtra today.

The nomination process for Punjab's 13 Lok Sabha seats and Himachal Pradesh's four parliamentary constituencies as well as six assembly segments where by-polls are to be held on June 1 began on Tuesday .The nomination process will continue till May 14, barring May 11 and 12 which are public holidays. The scrutiny of papers will take place on May 15 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations is May 17, according to an official release.

“Congress plans to give 100% reservation to Muslims, even the reservation meant for the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC). Will you let this happen?” said PM Modi in a rally in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra today. The public replied with an affirmative ‘No’.

Former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah commented on the mass resignation of party members in the state. While speaking to ANI, Abdullah said, “We told our Kargil friends that we are going to support the Congress. But they didn't agree and left the party. I worked hard to establish the party there. I will request the Leh, Kargil people to vote for Congress. When I talked about removing AFSPA, (former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti said I am insulting the Army. But now, they are working on the same and removing AFSPA.”

On his viral video on 'social media', BJP leader Arvind Dharmapuri said, "It's a two-year-old video and the topic was the addition of 'secular' word in the preamble to the constitution by the wife of Feroze Jahangir Gandhi, Indira Gandhi during the Emergency. Firstly, her father broke this nation into three pieces, based on religion and later, Indira Gandhi changed the constitution. In 1981, they removed SC and ST reservations from a central university by changing its status to a minority institution and also changed the name to Aligarh Muslim University. In 2011, the daughter-in-law of Feroze Jahangir Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi changed the status of a central university to a minority institution hence removing reservations for SC and ST. If they remain in power in Telangana, they'll change the status of Osmania University and Hyderabad Central University..."

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the candidature of Sher Singh Ghubaya as party candidate from the Firozpur parliamentary constituency for the Lok Sabha elections. 

“Congress and INDI alliance are spreading a new rumour that if Modi gets 400 seats, he will change the Constitution. It seems as if the Congress people's intelligence has been locked by the vote bank. Hey, they should know that from 2014 to 2019 and 2019 to 2024, Modi had the support of 400 seats in the form of NDA and NDA+,” said PM Modi during poll rally in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. 

JD(S) workers staged a protest against Karnataka Deputy CM and Congress leader DK Shivakumar and state govt over allegations made by BJP leader and advocate Devaraje Gowda. The protesters allege that the obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna were scripted by Congress.

As India votes in the third phase of Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a poll rally in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone. 

 Two government servants on Lok Sabha poll duty died in Karnataka following heart attacks, sources in the Election Commission said on Tuesday.        

 The sources identified the deceased as 48-year-old Govindappa Siddapura, headmaster of a government school, who breathed his last in Bagalkote district's Mudhol town on Monday.

 Nomination process for the seventh and the last phase of Lok Sabha elections in which 57 seats will go for polls on June 1, began on Tuesday. The key constituency of Varanasi represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha will also go for polls in the last phase.

The 57 parliamentary constituencies are spread over seven states and the union territory of Chandigarh.

The Election Commission issued a notification on behalf of the President starting the nomination process. According to the notification, May 14 is the last date for making nominations, while May 15 has been appointed as the day for scrutiny of nominations. Candidates can withdraw from electoral battle till May 17.

After casting his vote, Union Home Minister Amit Shah sent out a special message to the voters. He said, “Today is the voting for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. I would like to make a heartfelt appeal to all the voters across the country and also to the voters of Gujarat to come forward and participate in this festival of democracy and elect a stable government that provides a safe, prosperous country. Elect a government which is against corruption, wants to eradicate poverty, wants to make a self-reliant India, wants to make a developed India and wants to take India number one in every field in the whole world.”

He added, "Despite the scorching heat, the voting trends are very encouraging. As far as Gujarat is concerned, about 20 per cent of voting has been completed by the voters of Gujarat in just 2.5 hours. I have full confidence that the voters will elect a government that will provide stability, security, and prosperity and will make India free from poverty. Today, on the occasion of this festival of democracy, I convey my best wishes to all the countrymen and appeal to them to participate in this festival of democracy."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will cast his vote in Ahmedabad on Tuesday in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. He arrived at the polling station and was seen waiting for the Prime Minister to arrive.

On Tuesday, May 7, BJP's Dr Umesh Jadhav showed his inked finger after casting his vote at a polling booth in Kalaburagi.

Congress has fielded party chief Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani against him from the Kalaburagi constituency.

BJP has fielded Alok Sharma from Bhopal, while Congress has fielded Arun Shrivastava. Currently, BJP's Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur is the sitting MP from the constituency.

Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka began on Tuesday in 14 constituencies.

The segments where elections are being held on Tuesday are: Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davangere and Shimoga.

Polling began for five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar on Tuesday morning, amid tight security. The voting started at 7 am in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria, all currently held by the NDA, and will continue till 6 pm, they said.

Polling began Tuesday morning for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, including high-profile Mainpuri, in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Over 1.89 crore voters will seal the fate of 100 candidates in parliamentary constituencies of Sambhal, Hathras (SC), Agra (SC), Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Budaun, Aonla and Bareilly, where polling began at 7 am and will go on till 6 pm, according to the Election Commission.

"Your vote will lay the foundation of good fortune for not only you but also for the entire nation for decades to come," the post read further.

In phase three of the General Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be casting his vote in Ahmedabad, urging citizens to also cast their votes.

"After today’s exceptional programmes in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, reached Gujarat. In the morning tomorrow, 7th May, I will be voting in Ahmedabad. I urge all those who are to vote tomorrow to do so in record numbers as well," the PM said in a post on X. 

Preparations are underway across India for the third phase of Lok Sabah polls. Polling will begin at 7:00 am. 

The states going to polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections are Assam (4), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7 ), Goa (2 seats), Gujarat (26), Karnataka (14 ), Madhya Pradesh (8 ), Maharashtra (11), Uttar Pradesh (10 ), West Bengal (4), Jammu and Kashmir (1 ), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2).
 

Voting for the third phase of India's general elections will begin at 7 am and will conclude at 5 pm. 

As India today heads to the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, as many as 93 seats across the states and Union Territories will go to polls. Some 1,351 candidates are in the race.
