Hari Kumar PVSM, AVSM, VSM, presently Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command as the next Chief of the Naval Staff with effect from the afternoon of 30th November 2021.  The present Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, retires from service on 30th November, 2021.

Taking cognizance of the situation, the Madras High Court has sent a stringent warning to the Greater Chennai Corporation of initiating a suo-moto inquiry against them on Tuesday. The court had further taken cognizance of the state of affairs in Chennai and held Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) accountable to explain the work done by them after the 2015 floods to avoid the present situation. In strong words, the court had reprimanded the counsel and said they hope the situation improves in the flood-affected areas or else the bench will take up the case suo-moto.

Four newborns were reported dead after a fire broke out in the children's ward of Kamla Nehru Hospital in Bhopal on Monday night.

Tamil Nadu received an average rainfall of 16.84 mm in the last 24 hours with Chengalpet district receiving the highest, Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, KKSSR Ramachandran informed.

In another update, O Panneerselvam, former Deputy CM and AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that an issue order must be sent to the Ministry of Finance to release funds to carry out rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations considering the heavy rainfall recorded in the state.

Madras High Court has warned Chennai Corporation of initiating suo motu proceedings if the waterlogging situation is not brought under control in the region. The Court has asked what were the authorities doing post-2015 floods as they have failed to take adequate measures to prevent inundation in the city amid heavy rains.

A house collapsed in the Antop Hill area of Mumbai. So far, nine people have been rescued and shifted to a hospital. Upon receiving the information of the incident, four fire brigade vehicles have rushed to the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh three times this month in Sultanpur, Jhansi, and Greater Noida. 

On Nov 16, PM Modi will visit Sultanpur to inaugurate the state’s longest Purvanchal Expressway at a 3-km long airstrip built on the road. Prime Minister will then move to Jhansi on Nov 9, and take part in the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rani Lakshmi Bai. He will lay the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport project, in Greater Noida on Nov 25.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an ‘orange’ alert in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu including Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, and Salem. IMD has further warned of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state. Due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, rains are predicted to continue till Nov 11.

India on Tuesday, November 9, has reported 10,126 fresh Coronavirus infections with 11,982 recoveries and 332 deaths in the past 24 hours. According to Union health ministry data, out of the total infections, the active cases account for less than 1%, which is currently at 0.41%, the lowest since March 2020. The COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.23%. 

To date, India has administered a total of 1,09,12,07,771 COVID-19 vaccine doses across 59,267 vaccination sites.

Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang has informed that after a fire broke out at the children's ward of Kamla Nehru Hospital in Bhopal, there were 40 children in the ward out of which 36 are safe. But unfortunately, four newborns have lost their lives in the fire incident. The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the parents of each deceased.

Inside the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) office, a minor blast occurred in the Nawanshahr region of Punjab. The blast occurred beneath the water cooler at the office of the CIA wing of the police. A forensic team is investigating the reason for the blast.

Maharashtra Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Rajesh Tope suspended a doctor and three other staffers in relation to a fire incident that claimed 11 lives at the Ahmednagar District Hospital. Two nurses were also terminated from duty.

The state health minister has denied the fact that the health ministry has failed to ensure safety in hospitals. He has indirectly blamed the Public Works Department for the delay in submitting the required technical sanction to set up safety measures at the hospital.

IMD has also asked fishermen not to venture into the sea. The rains will continue as low pressure is created by a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal.

Four children have been reported dead after a fire broke out in the children's ward of Kamla Nehru Hospital in Bhopal on Monday night, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed. He further ordered a high-level enquiry into the incident. The fire brigade has reached the spot and rescue operations are still underway. Medical education minister Vishvas Sarang is also present at the incident site.
