Firing Between Terrorists and Security Forces in Sopore, 2 Terrorists Killed, 2 Army Jawans Injured

An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and joint security forces in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir, after a search operation was launched.

Sopore: An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and joint security forces at the Check Mohalla Nowpora, Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The encounter began after a search operation was launched in the area. More reinforcement was rushed to the spot, even as massive firing continued from both sides post midnight on Friday. A top commander was believed to be trapped in the encounter at Sopore, and two Army jawans were injured and shifted to hospital. According to sources, two terrorists were killed in the firing. Some reports say a civilian was injured as well.

Residential areas near the encounter spot were being monitored with multiple drone cameras by security forces throughout the encounter.

As per reports from Ground Zero, two anti-terror operations were underway in north Kashmir's Bandipora and Sopore on Thursday.

The Kashmir Zone Police posted on X on Thursday, saying, “An #encounter has started at Check Mohalla Nowpora in the area of PD #Sopore. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice .”
