'If I have to, I WILL BE PICKED': Shubman Gill's MASSIVE 'Injustice' remark amid T20WC selection

Young batter Shubman Gill reveals his thoughts upon the T20 World Cup selection for Team India, revealing that while his focus is in the IPL 2024 season.

While the IPL 2024 season goes on, cricket fans will have the T20 World Cup in mind. The BCCI selectors will be ready to field the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming ICC majors tournament, where the Men in Blue will attempt to break the longstanding 11-year title drought. A lot of the players will be monitored as they play through the IPL 2024 season, and their minds will also be circulating the World Cup. One of the batters who will be contending for the spot is Shubman Gill, who is leading the Gujarat Titans as the skipper. The young batter reveals his determination for the ICC tournament, revealing that he is focused solely on the ongoing domestic tournament.

Shubman Gill reveals his focus currently lies over IPL, not T20 World Cup

This year, Team India will be out for redemption in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, and the selectors will aim to form a dominant force. Shubman Gill emerges as one of the contenders to be in the squad. But at this moment, Gill affirmed that his focus is currently on the IPL 2024 season leading the Gujarat Titans and is attempting to deliver his best as the cash-rich season goes on.

“Playing for India is the biggest thing. But if I start thinking about the World Cup, then I will be doing injustice to my current team (GT) and myself.

“If I have to be picked for the T20 World Cup, I will be picked. But right now, my focus is on IPL and how to get the best out of my team and perform the best for my team which also helps my players,” Gill said to PTI in an interview.

While Shubman Gill confirmed that he is focusing on the IPL, he is certainly eager to be on the side for the ICC tournament and bring the expertise he got from the ODI World Cup.

“Obviously as a player, I want to be there and play the World Cup and get that opportunity to represent my country at the highest level – the biggest stage of T20 cricket.

“Having played in a World Cup last year, I have had my share of experiences, and it would be great to be able to play another World Cup. But I am not thinking that far ahead,” he mentioned.
